I was asked to produce the illustration work for a 16 page programme/story book for Charlotte Church's new musical show, 'The Last Mermaid' that premiered at The Festival of Voice, Cardiff in June. The story is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid but greatly removed from the original and focusses on environmental issues and themes of reconnecting with each other and the world around us. Co-created by Charlotte Church, Jonathan Powell and Sion Trefor. Prose written by Jonathan Powell. Graphic design by Richard Chitty. 'In the darkest depths of the ocean, the last mermaid emerges from her clamshell and discovers she is the sole survivor of a lost, undersea kingdom. With the help of a new companion, the last whale, the last mermaid has the chance to break free from her underwater world and walk on land. But what awaits her above the tender waves?'
