Land of the Sleeping Giant

The bear bones (Har-Har) of the drawing started with the idea of a sleeping panda that was a mixture of animal, rock and tree to try and reinforce the organic and ancient nature of the beast. I see the panda as a kind of protector of the land but has he been sleeping for too long?
